Hi! Welcome to my About page. I assume you’re here because you want to know more about me and/or this Tumblr, so, let me attempt to oblige with this handy list:

• My name is Jessica.
• I study Arts at Monash Uni. Specifically, I study history, linguistics and Spanish. For certain definitions of “study”.
• I love and adore Metric and post/reblog a lot about them, as well as about Emily Haines, my idol.
• I have many other favourite bands that I also reblog shit about occasionally. Check out my Last.fm if you’re really desperately curious.
• I swear a lot.
• Like a true linguistics student, I reject pedants’ notions of prescriptive grammar, and (ab)use word formation processes like a god. Recently I invented a new verb “discrepancise”. That was a good day.
• I am mildly obsessed with languages, especially Romance languages…
• I consider myself a Marxist, and blog a bit about politics.
• I take a particular interest in issues of feminism (or women’s oppression) and sexuality, so if I’m engaging in some political blogging it’s often about one of those things.
• I have a weakness for pictures of cute cats, cute dogs and animals in general.
• (Especially elephants. Elephants are cool.)
• Doctor Who is the show of my childhood and I still love it a lot.
• I also love Buffy, Firefly and Angel (still need to watch Dollhouse!!)…
