July 2009
I am so tired. Need more coffee~
Victory in #JulNo is mine! :D Over 50,000 with more than two hours to spare. Hooray!
Technicallyyyy, 2,800 words for #JulNo today, but I’ll write maybe another 20 minutes and see how many more I can get. Only 24 more hours!
So, I need to write 3,023 words tomorrow to win #JulNo. I’m sure it can be done! But for now, bed.
Haha at typos! Wrote “mediacation” rather than “medication”. #JulNo writing is going sloooowly, but I should still make 3,000 for the day.
Time to throw myself into #JulNo again! Hopefully I can rack up words as fast as yesterday. Could win in under 3hrs if that was the case.
In an hour and a bit I wrote 3,000 words for #JulNo. O_O Maybe victory isn’t as far-fetched as I thought.
Pretty sure I can’t win #JulNo any more, but at least I can try to get some last-minute words in.
I’m pretty sure I can’t resolve this problem. Shouting, “Add a page to the cache!!” isn’t helping and the code clearly says it SHOULD be. :\
OMFG I am so pissed off with myself. The whole thing was broken because I’d forgotten to take out an {% endif %}. I’m so stupid :<
I worked out the MD5-hashing is for caching files, and the fatal errors are bc there’s nothing in the cache w/ that name. BUT WHY NOT. Hmm.
ARGH. I made a new feather for Chyrp, but it makes my layout generate fatal errors bc Chyrp is MD5-hashing names to look for a template…?
Chrome is blocking random parts of the Internet again. Then I opened Firefox and it instantly hung. :| Oh, the dilemmas I face.
Oooooh I just realised it was possible to rearrange Firefox’s toolbars! You can even delete them to conserve space!! How exciting.
Why do Westerners refer to the “Kuomintang” when “Guomindang” is the better Romanisation? :| (Plus, it’s what I use in Revolutions…)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8157725.stm Milan has just banned the consumption of alcohol by under-16s…
Have to go to a Revolutions seminar in Thornbury tomorrow :( DNW to go. On the bright side, my new teacher seems pretty good.
Quick, someone find me a study on the health benefits of butter! Because I just realised I eat a lot of it. How I love butter so!
http://bit.ly/2lGdV0 Pretty sure this tells me EXACTLY what I need to know to build a custom front page. Hurrah for support forums!
I should not discuss politics with my grandmother. It never works out.
Just made a list of all the tasks required to make my house habitable. Some of them are unachievable because my Mum would resist. Great…
Just realised I haven’t worked on JulNo AT ALL in ~8 days and now have to write 10,000 words by Friday. With no weekends in that time. Aiie!
Restlessness →
Some people aggravate me. :|
Chyrp is giving me problems :( Firstly I can’t get comment forms to appear, and secondly it spews 404s at me when content DOES EXIST. Argh!
Aha! Comment form problem solved. Turns out that by default, no one has permission to use comments, not even admin. o_O Oh well, fixed now.
huyenneikrenkru why do I have to put <p> tags in EVERY SINGLE ENTRY AND COMMENT I imported from WP. So much work ;_;
Porting my layout over to Chyrp is hard work!! But, slowly, it’s getting there…
“We can always resolve things by questioning things. I think we should question things.” Sadly said by some Jehovah’s Witness at our door.
“We have several Bibles.” “Excellent! Do you read them?” “I read widely.” I’m always impressed by how politely Dad talks to these people.
More disconcerting: Chrome has now taught itself to open before I’ve asked it to (i.e. WITHOUT me asking it to). What is this?
YESSSSS! :D My application for free web hosting was successful! No more needing to be grumpy about WP.com’s restrictiveness! 8D
I think Chrome is quietly disapproving of my activities by blocking/redirecting certain pages. Screw you Chrome, and let me see what I want.
This is Why Our School Shouldn't Make...
Public Announcement: Could the staff member who took the laminator and the guillotine from the photocopy room please return these items immediately? Thank you.
Me (after a second): The guillotine?
Person A: Of course! How can you have a French Revolution without a guillotine?
Me: Hmm, I wonder which teacher is planning to start a revolution with a guillotine.
Person A: [The History teacher]...?
Me: Oh yeah. I'd better be on guard then.
Person A: He's going to demonstrate how a guillotine works in front of everyone currently studying the French Revolution.
Me: Oh, but that's even worse. I mean, who's he going to execute?
Person A: People who don't support the revolution?
Me: See, THAT'S why I'll have to be on my guard! "You like freedom too much -- you must be punished!"
Person A: Better yet, then he'll go around executing RANDOM PEOPLE. Then they'll be going, "What the fuck?? What did I do wrong???"
Person B (staring at us like we're insane): What are you guys talking about? Don't guillotines cut paper?
Person A: They used guillotines to cut off people's heads during the French Revolution.
Person B: Huh?
Me: Guillotine has two meanings. There are guillotines used to cut paper, and guillotines used to cut off people's heads.
Person A: Yeah, that's pretty much the whole basis of the joke.
Person B: Ohhhh.
I should really print these posters out and stick them around my school: http://hey-it.com/ We’re forced to use IE6 there! #heyit
I feel semi-obliged to blog something but none of my ideas are inspiring me. May have to pick one at random and formulaically write it.
Does anyone else find that you get really emotional when you’re starving? I don’t know whether I want to cry or punch someone.

HAHA. The rain thinks it can take me by surprise and strike, but little does it know, I’m already home. ;)
Feeling so much better now I’ve had a nap! I love sleep. :]
Hate realising I have contradictory views. I feel compelled to rationalise everything and change my views to eliminate the contradiction.
16 of Enduring Love’s 24 chapters read now. 8 to go. I want it to hurry upppp!
You know when you’ve had so little sleep that your eyes just sting such that it’s unbearable to hold them open? I hate it.
Ahhh, today was tiring. Melbourne Open House Day. There was some interesting stuff but there was also a lot of walking. In the cold. :(
I have to finish the novel “Enduring Love” in the next two days. Have read 3 chapters out of 24. So yeah, ummm, progressing well…
The Ashes make me sad. The last match was a draw EVEN THOUGH we dominated, and now we’re losing this one thx partly to bad decisions. Sigh.
Got back from my uncle’s 60th birthday dinner… twas fun talking to my cousins! We discussed many anti-authoritarian ideas ;)
Yaaay, ch.12 of my #JulNo novel is pretty much done! And crap, but done. I think I’ll be rewriting 95% of chs anyway, so it’s no big deal.
Microsoft Word’s auto-summarise feature cracks me up. A lot.
