I asked Dad who to vote for in council elections and the guy he recommended turned out to be a small businessman member of the Liberal Party so pretty sure I am never trusting him again.
I think I’ve worked out who to vote for now, though! In my ward there are eight candidates, of which we have to elect three, and our choices are: two Liberals (who try to hide their party membership); two people closely associated with the Liberals; one guy who no one knows who the fuck he is; two Greens (who are open and honest about their party membership); and this guy.
So, pretty sure Ryan Hsu’s going to get my vote, because he’s a unionist, involved in the anti-TAFE cuts campaign in some capacity, he hates Liberals, and one of his major issues on his flyer was keeping childcare facilities owned by council instead of privatised everywhere and that’s one of those rare local issues I could actually get enthusiastic about instead of just, “hmm yeah, that’s good I guess…”
then after him the Greens probably, because everyone else seems to be either a Liberal or a businessman.
